Impact of activities in coastal zone on the marine ecology

The coastal regions have been prefered from people from every era. The intensiveuse of the coastal areas by high human activities, caused a pressure on the resourcesin these areas and may effect a come up with the sustainability threshold limit valuein time. Furthermore, due to human activities, various contaminants occur and someof this organic or inorganic substances get carried to the ultimate receiver - themarine ecosystem environment. Thereby, not only the dry out of the resources isunder risk but also the use of existing and potencial marine resources. Themonitoring of the contaminant of the marine climate by the pressure of the humanactivities on the enviroment, becomes a major study in the managment of the coastalzones. The scope of the thesis study is to analyze the transfer of the organiccontaminants nitrogen and phosphor formed in the inland area to the marineenviroment in the watershed which surrounds the coastal area Ildır and the GerenceBay. The basic target of the study was to create an appliance by using the evaluationswhich made with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).Most of the working area was a natural protected area in the district Cesme whichis a province of Izmir. The spread out and pointed sources of nitrogen and phosphorloads in the working area caused by the pressure from the intensive touristy andsummer house, and the amount of this loads in the marine enviroment has beencalculated by various approaches. In the area of interest appeared parts likeagriculture, tourism, urbanisation, summer house, aquaculture activities and naturalareas, has been digitized with GIS. The loads which formed in this area werecalculated by using reference values. The main output of the thesis study, was tocreate a simple and realizable method to plan and observe with the Integrated CoastalZone Management the activities in the coastal zones.
