Abstract (EN)

Latife Tekin's novels present a multi-layered literary structure where semiotic and symbolic orders intertwine, pushing the boundaries of language. Latife Tekin's novels present a multi-layered literary structure in which semiotic and symbolic orders are intertwined and the limits of language are pushed. In this study, the language in Latife Tekin's novels is analyzed through close reading in the context of Julia Kristeva's semiotic chora and Jacques Derrida's différance. Language has always been at the center of Latife Tekin's novels, from her first novel, Dear Shameless Death to Timeless, written in 2022. In Tekin's novels, which she defines literature as "going beyond language by using language" , language pushes the boundaries of meaning with its pre-linguistic, feminine, archaic, rhythmic, poetic, metaphorical, psychic features. In Tekin's works, semiotic elements express the unconscious, intuitive and bodily-rhythmic experiences of the individual, while the symbolic order points to the normative dimension of language. In this context, both Kristeva's semiotic chora approach and Derrida's concept of différance point to the constantly transforming, non-fixed nature of language, the ambiguity of meaning and the postponed and variable nature of language in the production of meaning. In this thesis, a multi-layered literary analysis of Latife Tekin's novels in the light of Kristevian semiotic khora and Derrida's différance is presented. These eleven novels were analyzed in the context of semiotic, symbolic, thetic, genotex and phenotex, which are elements of semiotic chora, and deferral and différence, which are elements of différance. It has been observed that the common denominator of these novels, which correspond to different phases of Latife Tekin's novelism, analyzed within the scope of this thesis is the semiotic chora and différance features of the novels.
