Evaluation of C-reactive protein/albumin ratio in dogs with leishmaniosis

Leishmaniosis is an important vector borne disease and Phlebotomus spp. which are vectors of this disease are prevalent mostly in Mediterrenean region but can be seen in all Turkey. There is not any certain treatment to defeat the disease completely from body. The treatment protocols change depends on patient condition. Thus, defining patient's prognosis is important. Recently, C-reactive protein/Albumin ratio is started to use as a prognostic marker in several diseases in human and veterinary medicine. The objective of this research is to evaluate of CRP/ALB ratio as a prognostik marker of Leishmaniosis disease. In the research 20 dogs which have Leishmaniosis and 10 dogs which are healthy were evaluated for CRP/ALB ratio values between two groups. As a result of the findings, the differance of two groups were found as statistically important (P<0,05). According to this study CRP/ALB ratio can be used as a prognostic marker of Leishmaniosis in dogs.
