Abstract (EN)

m SUMMARY In this study, samples of Levantina caesareana that belong to Helicidae family were investigated. Samples were collected from Mersin region in natural environment during breeding season, March- June period. The mean values about humidity and heat were determined for breeding season. It was observed that samples have activity approximate at 20-25°C. The width-height of shell, width-height aperture with height of spire region of 50 samples were measured Dimensions (width-height) of shell, aperture and spire region of 50 samples were measured and their shell indexes were calculated statistically. According to result of measurements, it was defined that mean shell height 25.22 mm., mean shell width 20.36 mm., mean aperture height 10.18 mm., mean aperture width 06.94 mm. and mean sire height 1 1.06 mm. Jaw, radula and some organ systems of samples dissected, photographed and their shape were drawn under stereo microscope Jaw, radula, love glands, love dart and sperm-oviduct are fairly important anatomical components for determining and identification of species. According to results of anatomical studies, it was observed that there are 5 carina in jaw; 87 teeth on one site of radula; 15 basal carina in love dart and 16 tassel in love glands. The histological preparations of radula and organ systems were prepared and photographed. It was determined that sperm-oviduct ducts that has importance for identifying species during histological preparations, have two independent ducts.
