The relationships between identity orientations, attachment styles and subjective well-being in high school students

This research was carried out to examine the relationships between identity orientations, attachment styles and subjective well-being of high school students. The population of the research conducted in the relational scanning model consists of participants aged 14-18 who live in Bursa and are high school students. The research sample consists of 348 participants between the ages of 14-18 who live in Bursa and are high school students. The data obtained in the research were collected through four questionnaire forms. The "Personal Information Form", which is the first questionnaire form and prepared by the researcher, consists of 15 questions, four open-ended and eleven closed-ended questions, about determining the socio-demographic characteristics of the participants. The second questionnaire form, the Identity Scale, was developed by Cheek and Tropp (1995) and adapted to Turkish by Coşkun (2004) and consists of 35 questions. Attachment Styles Scale, which is the third questionnaire form, was developed by Erzen (2016) and consists of 18 questions. The fourth questionnaire form is the Subjective Well-Being Scale developed by Tuzgöl Dost (2005) and consists of 46 items. SPSS 25 statistical program was used in the analysis of the data. Pearson correlation analysis was used to examine the covariance relationships between variables. One-way anova analysis was used to compare the means of variables with more than two categories, t-test analysis was used to compare the means of variables with two categories, and regression analysis was used for predictive relationships. As a result, there are significant relationships between subjective well-being and identity orientation, avoidant, anxious and secure attachment; there are differences between men and women in terms of identity orientation, avoidant and secure attachment style; subjective well-being and secure attachment style significantly predicted identity orientation. The research findings obtained were discussed on the basis of the related literature.
