Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the factors that affect the level of physical activity and life quality of the high school students. 1301 high school students 571 (43,9%) of which is male and 730 (56%) of which is female with an average age of 16,29±1,09 participated in this study. The data used in this research was collected by using two different questionnaires. The first one of these questionnaires is "Seven Day Physical Activity Tracking" and the second one is "Life Quality for Children". Statistical programs developed for social sciences were used for the evaluation of the data collected. During the analysis of the data obtained, normality analysis was conducted as the first step. Normality analysis was conducted by using Shapiro-Wilk test. During the later stages of the analysis, Mann-Whitney U, Kruakal, Wallis H tests were used. Spearman test was used in the correlation analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was found out that life quality and its sub-dimensions were considerably higher in male students (p<0.05). The life quality of those who are active and who are a licensed sportsperson are significantly higher when compared to those who are sedentary and who are not participating in any sports activities (p<0.05). The life quality of those spending more than 10 hours in virtual life have considerably lower than those who spend 10 and less hours (p<0.05). The physical activity levels of the women are remarkably lower than those of men (p<0.05). The level of physical activity of the participants spending 10 and more hours online is considerably higher (p<0.05). There is a low level statistical significance between the level of physical activity and life quality (p<0.05). Attempts to increase the physical activity level in young people are thought to increase their quality of life.
