Relationship between attachment styles and career adaptability of high school students

Abstract (EN)
This descriptive correlational research was conducted of this study is to investigate the relationship between attachment styles and career adatability in high school students. The research was conducted in 4 high schools in the province of Adana and its central districts. The participants were 582 students (362 females and 220 males; and range = 14 to 19) who were ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth graders.This research aims to çollect data related to adolescents career adaptability "Career Adapt-Abilities Scale", attachment style "Relationship Scales Questionnaire" and finally "Personel İnformation Form" development by researcher to elicit personal of participants were conducted. Data were analyzed busing Pearson's Product Moment Correlation coefficients, t test, varyans analysis and multiple regression analysis. The result of this research, while there was a significant relationship between career adaptation skills and secure, fearful and obsessive attachment, there was no relationship with indifferent attachment. When the results of multiple regression analysis are examined, it is seen that the attachment scale subscales are a significant predictor of career adaptability. The only predictor pf high school students career adaptability is secure attachment. In female high school students, there was a moderate positive relationship between secure attachment and career adaptation ability, while a low positive correlation was found between indifferent attachment and a low negative correlation to sile attachment. There was no significant relationship between female high school students' career adaptation abilities and fearful attachment. While the most important predictor of female high school students' career adjustment skills is secure attachment, the second important predictor is obsessive attachment. Fearful attachment and indifferent attachment styles are not predictors of female adaptation skills. There was a low positive correlation between secure attachment and career adaptation ability in male high school students, and a low negative correlation with fearful attachment. There was no significant relationship between obsessive attachment and unregistered attachment and career adjustment skills. While the only predictor of male high school students' career adjustment abilities was secure attachment, the other dimensions were not significant predictors of the sub-dimensions.
