Özet (EN)

The main purpose of this research is to examine the relationships between perfectionist self-presentation, social anxiety and fear of being disliked on social media in adolescents. In this respect, the study was conducted with the participation of 632 students attending 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade studying in Çukurova, Seyhan, Yüreğir and Sarıçam districts in Adana. Data were collected from 7 different high schools in total; 6 of them are Anatolian High School and 1 of them is Girls' Imam Hatip Anatolian High School. Data on perfectionistic self-presentation in adolescents "The Perfectionist Self-Presentation Scale for Children and Adolescents" (Akın and Akın, 2012); Data on social anxiety in adolescents were obtained using the "Social Anxiety Scale for Adolescents" (Aydın and Sütçü, 2007) and data on fear of being disliked on social media in adolescents using the "Fear of Being Disliked on Social Media Scale" (Söner and Yılmaz, 2019). Whether there is a significant difference by gender in terms of perfectionistic self- presentation, social anxiety and fear of being disliked social media in adolescents was analyzed by t-test. The findings from the result of Pearson's Correlation were examined in order to reveal the relationship between the variables and multiple regression analysis was used to test whether perfectionist self-presentation and social anxiety predict fear of being disliked social media. According to the results obtained from the studies, moderate positive and significant relationships were obtained between perfectionist self-presentation, social anxiety and fear of being disliked social media. As a result of multiple regression analysis performed to determine whether perfectionist self presentation and social anxiety predicts fear of being disliked social media it is seen that all sub-dimensions of perfectionist self-presentation and social anxiety significantly explain the total score of fear of social media disliked scale. When the t-test results regarding the significance of the regression coefficients were examined, it was determined that only the fear of negative evaluation sub-dimension from the social anxiety subscales significantly predicted the total score of fear of social media disliked scale; on the other hand, it was determined that all sub-dimensions of perfectionist self-presentation were significant predictors of the total score of fear of social media disliked scale. According to the regression analyzes performed on female adolescents, it is seen that perfectionist self-presentation and all sub-dimensions of social anxiety significantly explain the total score of fear of being disliked by social media. When the t-test results regarding the significance of the regression coefficients were examined, it was found that only the fear of negative evaluation, one of the sub-dimensions of social anxiety in female adolescents, was a significant predictor of the fear of being disliked in social media; On the other hand, perfectionist self-raising and not telling the error, which are sub-dimensions of perfectionist self-presentation, were found to be significant predictors of fear of being disliked on social media. According to the results of the regression analysis for male adolescents, it is seen that perfectionist self-presentation and all sub-dimensions of social anxiety significantly explain the total score of fear of being disliked by social media. When the t-test results regarding the significance of the regression coefficients were examined, it was found that fear of negative evaluation from social anxiety sub-dimensions and fear and restlessness in new situations were significant predictors of the total score of fear of being disliked in social media. In addition, according to the results of the regression analysis, it was found that female students explained their social media behaviors more in all sub-dimensions of social anxiety and perfectionist self-presentation in the sub-dimensions of perfectionist self-raising and concealing the error; It is seen that only the perfectionist self-presentation of male students explains their social media behaviors more in the sub-dimension of not telling the error.
