ABSTRACTOpinions of Last Year High School Girls About NursingThe most important special feature of a job is having a social and an evidentfunction to change the society and convey the people in the society to a beter level.Considering that the nursing is in a lower status among the other jobs, theincorrect ideas of the individuals of the society about nursing and also the badconditions of this job have negatively effected the candidates who are willing toattend the nursing schools and also have recently effected the members of this job.This research has been planned to search the opinions of the girls aboutnursing who are in the last classes at high schools. This research has included 416girls who are in the last classes at Hacı Ahmet Atıl, Şehit Temel Cingöz, Borsa,Mehmet Kemal Tuncel, Enver Kurttepeli, Orhan Çobanoğlu high schools whichare connected with The Ministry of Education.Data has been collected with a questionnaire which has stated the students?socia-demographic charestetics, their opinions about nursing, also about nursesand their job preferences. Date have been analyzed by utulizing SPSS forWindows, to obtain result for percentages and K Square Test.The average of the students are 17.0±06, their siblings number average is3.0±1.65, 85.3 percent of them have a nucleus family, 31.5 percent of them haveprimary school education fathers, 37.7 percent of them have free-lance workingfathers, 39.4 percent of them have primary school education mathers, 85.3 percentof their mathers are housewives, 24.5 percent of their family income is 150-549TLs., 72.8 percent of think that nursing an ideal job for women, 49.3 percent ofthem have hospital experiences, 59.4 percent of them are the relatives of nurses,71.2 percent of them never prefer nursing, 93.3 percent of them think thatuniversity education is a must in nursing, 38.7 percent of them think that in ourcountry nursing education is given at universities, 51.2 percent of them think thatthe men should be worked as nurses, 77.6 percent of them think that the nurses arethe of the doctors, 43.3 percent of them think that the nurses are strict and hard-hearted people.The end of this investigation, it was absorved that although the studentsexpressed positive opinions, they still haven?t enough information about nursingand they are affected society?s negative opinions. After results have beenevaluated, they can be used in education of students for information about nursing.Key Words: High School, Girl Students, Nursing, Opinionsi
