Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to reveal the professional ethical behaviors of school principals from the perceptions of teachers and school principals. For this purpose, interviews from qualitative research methods were preferred. The population of the study consists of all high schools in Karabağlar, İzmir, while the sample consists of 48 school principals and teachers from Anatolian, Imam Hatip and General High Schools. The sample of the study was chosen by maximum diversity sampling from purposeful sampling methods. In order to collect data, the Personal Information Form and the interview form developed by the researcher and consisting of 8 open-ended questions were used. Face-to-face interviews were conducted with the participants and the data obtained from the participants' opinions were recorded. According to the findings, it was determined that the perceptions of principals and teachers related to the ethics were focused on moral concept. It was accepted that the most important ethical behaviors expected from school principals were behaving in accordance with professional rules and norms, justice, equality and impartiality. The majority of the participants stated that there were no written ethics rules in their schools, and that school principals were generally verbal warnings against unethical behaviors.
