Investigating the maternities? behaviour about health and self-care strengths after birth

Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study is to determine the level of knowledge,health behavior and self-care strengths of 600 maternities at Kahramanmaraş Gynaecology caesarean section newborn intensive care unit during 1 january-1 april. SPSS statistics program was used in analyzing data.31,8% of maternities are 19- 24 years; 91% of them are housewifes, 49,8 %have social security 73,2% have small family 71,7 have 1-3 pregnancy 33,5% have given birth two times. 69,5% of maternities said that they have no health problem during pregnancy , 16,7% said they have chronic illness 77,5% of them said they went to check up and 14,8% said that they got information from nurses. 53,5% of maternities gave birth by caesarean.After birth 32% of maternities said that they have clear and odorless flux after 15-30 days later.43,8% of maternities siad they brestfeeded their babies in 30münutes-1 hour 18,5 have brestfeeding problems 46,9% have brestfeed depending on baby and 16% try to increase brestmilk.In nutrition 25,6% have increased food including sugar, 20,7% have decrease bitter,sour food. 27,2% said they know vaccines 21,8% said that they will go to chek up 65,3% said they will have sexual intercourse after 40 days 31% said that they will start protecting against pregnancy after forty days.After birth 6,8% them have indicated that they have intestinal problems, 21,6 have difficulties in bending and straightening up , 55,7% is affected in social life, 23,3% have fears and anxious , 67,7% have limited sleep time 89,7% have no chance of exercise 72,8% have used drug after birth and 15,8% have wanted to get information about planned parenthood.Is was determined a significant correlation among self-care points, maternities? brestfeeding time ,checking up in pregnancy, liquid food consume, knowing vaccines, activities that are difficult after birth, health problems, getting information after birth, caesarean, bath position and tiolet.Key words : Postnatal Period, Health Behavior, Self-Care Strenght
