An application on the selection of electric motor vehicles in logistics

Logistics is a concept that expresses the entire process from the first producer to the final consumer. With the increasing trade volume in recent years, both producers and consumers choose urban centers as living spaces. As a result, the concept of urban logistics has gained importance. The population growth in urban centers has also increased the number of vehicles used in logistics. Vehicles used in logistics are generally fossil fuel vehicles. However, considering the energy consumption of fossil fuel vehicles and their negative effects on the environment, the use of alternative fuel and alternative vehicle technologies should be considered. In this thesis, firstly the definition of urban logistics and development process is explained. Alternative fuels and alternative vehicle technologies have been examined and electric vehicles, which are one of the alternative vehicle technologies, are defined. In urban logistics, the use of electric vehicles is emphasized, the opinions and experiences of the logistic and transportation companies on the use of electric vehicles have been questioned, the strengths and weaknesses of the use of electric vehicles in logistics have been put forward and finally, the measures to be taken for the widespread use of electric vehicles in logistics are explained and suggestions are presented.
