Abstract (EN)

Purpose: We investigated the size of the pleural thickness, SUVmax of the pleural thickness, the size of the mediastinal lymph node, and the SUVmax of the mediastinal lymph node in the diagnosis or differential diagnosis of patients with FDG PET/CT imaging. Materials and Methods: Between May 2018 and February 2020, we retrospectively analyzed 54 patients who applied to Dicle University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Nuclear Medicine with a preliminary diagnosis of MPM and underwent FDG PET/CT imaging. After histopathological examination after FDG PET/CT imaging, 23 MPM (Group 1), 11 non-mesothelioma malignancy (Group 2), 11 normal (Group 3), 9 pleuritis (Group 4) and 20 ' si benign (Group 5) (normal and sum of pleuritis). We compared MPM and the size of the pleural thickness of the other groups, the SUVmax of the pleural thickness, the size of the mediastinal lymph node and the SUVmax of the mediastinal lymph node. Results: When MPM and other pleural pathologies were compared, we found a statistically significant difference in SUVmax of the pleural thickness (p <0.001). We did not find any statistically significant difference between parameters compared with MPM and non-mesothelioma group of malignancies. When MPM and normal group were compared, we found a statistically significant difference in SUVmax of pleural thickness (p = 0.001). We did not find a statistically significant difference between the parameters we compared MPM and pleuritis group. When MPM and benign groups were compared, we found a statistically significant difference in SUVmax of pleural thickness (p = 0.005). Conclusion: We came to the conclusion that the SUVmax of pleural thickness can be used to differentiate MPM from other pleural pathologies. We came to the conclusion that the MPM and non-mesothelioma malignancy group cannot be distinguished by the parameters we use. With MPM, we concluded that we can distinguish the normal group with the SUVmax of the pleural thickness. We came to the conclusion that the MPM and the pleuritis group cannot be distinguished by the parameters we use. We concluded that we can distinguish the benign group with MPM by the SUVmax of the pleural thickness. Keywords: Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma, FDG, PET/CT, SUVmax
