Solid waste management plan in Mardin

The aim of this study is attention to the problem of 'solid waste', which poses a risk to the environment and human health and has become a serious administrative problem and based on the example of Mardin Metropolitan Municipality (MBB) at the institutional level to reveal the planning and implementation processes on solid waste management. During in this study; written, visual and internet resources were scanned, laws, regulations and directives were examined. In the field study; face-to-face interviews were conducted with authorized and responsible persons in the Mardin region, and a comprehensive field survey was conducted by examining the solid waste management activities in the region. In this direction, first of all, waste and solid waste definitions were made, the current waste management of our city was summarized, two different solid waste characterizations as winter and summer months were presented and the solid wastes formed were evaluated in terms of various disposal methods. For the solid waste management system, the future population and waste projection calculations of the region and the current waste situation were presented. In addition, the most appropriate solid waste management system components for the most suitable solid waste collection and transportation systems have been implemented as a result of this study.
