Marko Malink's interpretation of Aristoteles

Starting from the historical legacy of Aristotle's system of logic, this study examines how this system can be reinterpreted in today's logical and philosophical environment in the light of Marko Malink's contemporary interpretations. The study reveals that Aristotle's system of logic is not limited to formal rules of inference; it also encompasses the structural relations between knowledge, being, and language, and that these relations can be coherently reconstructed through Marko Malink's contemporary interpretations. In the first part of the study, topics such as the examination of Aristotle's understanding of logic within the framework of ontological and epistemological principles, the concept of essential predication, the justification of scientific knowledge by direct proof, the issue of circular proof, and the analysis of Prior Analytics and Topics as the beginning of formal logic are discussed from different theoretical perspectives. The results obtained in this chapter provide a methodological and conceptual basis for understanding Malink's interpretation of the modal syllogism discussed in the second chapter. In the second part, the criticisms regarding the inconsistency and invalidity of Aristotle's modal syllogism are re-evaluated within the framework of Malink's contemporary interpretations. Against these criticisms, Malink argues that Aristotle's modal system is fundamentally consistent and valid. In the study, the orthodox and heterodox semantic approaches are examined comparatively, and the heterodox dictum semantic model developed by Malink is analyzed both critically and supportively. Malink's approach aims to present Aristotle's logic as a reconstructible and meaningful system by adapting it to contemporary logic and philosophy. In this context, the thesis critically analyzes how Aristotle's logic can be interpreted through contemporary methods and assesses the contribution of these interpretations to the literature of logic. By examining Aristotle's system of logic and his works in this field within the framework of a historicist perspective and textual fidelity, it attempts to demonstrate that this system can be reinterpreted in the light of modern logical systems and that it still retains its validity and vitality. As a result, this thesis seeks to show that Aristotelian logic remains a dynamic and contemporary field of research.
