Üniversiteler ve akademisyenler üzerindeki kontrol mekanizmaları: İletişim fakülteleri örneği

Control mechanisms differentiate according to the periods of time and the stakes from various types of authority. For example, in the middle age, the ecclesiastical authorities had strategies completely different from those of modern state. As this study concentrates on the control mechanisms of the modern state; at the beginning, the history of the university is studied within the framework of the theories of the `societies of discipline? and the `societies of control? whose evolutions are parallel to that of the modern state. While trying to describe the adaptation of Turkey to these control mechanisms, the history of the university is analyzed within the same theoretical framework: first attempts to found a university in the middle of the 19th century; balance between modernity and the tradition; teaching as an instrument of control during the hamidian period; the new control mechanisms proper to the Turkish Republic form the principal titles of the second chapter. In the second part of the study, control mechanisms over the academicians are analyzed along with depth interviews and direct observation methods, by considering the sample of the Schools of Communications.
