SUMMARY KIZILKAYA Müzekkir,MEHMED ZAHİD KOTKU'S LİVES, BOOK'S AND ,UNDERSTANDİNG OF SEYR U SULUK Master Thesis Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet ATLI,Mehmed Zahid Kotku who was one of Gumushanelian sheikhs and lived between 1897 and 1980 is a Hadith scholar with high moral qualities. Mr. Kotku who was graduated from madrasah and deeply committed to the shari'a (religious law) was very competent on Hadith, Fiqh, Recitation (reading), Rules of Faith, Siyer (Life Story of the Prophet Muhammad), and Sufism and stood out due to his capability of memorising Koran. The book headed "The Sufist Moral'' and "Nafs Disipline" which is the fundemantal source of our thesis, covers topics/subjects such as full commitment to Islam and tradition, getting equipped with social ethics, staying away from all types of unpleasant behaviours, mingling with good habits, staying away from bad habits, and mentioning about God by heart. He expressed the Prophet Muhammad's Sayings, which he received from Râmuz by synthesising, clearly and plainly in such a way that people can easily understand. The study has one introduction and two parts. In the introduction part, information about the subject, goal, importance, method, and sources of the study were provided. In the first part, Mehmed Zahid Kotku's life, teachers, friends, works, and religious personality were emphasized. In the second part, Mehmed Zahid Kotku's sense of sufism was tried to be revealed as a result of this study.
