A study on the depiction of Mehmet Akif's poems

Mehmet Akif Ersoy (20.12.1873-27.12.1936) is one of the most important names in Turkish Literature, with his prose written in Sırât-ı Müstakîm and Sebîlürreşad, as well as his poems that he wrote after the 2nd Constitutional Era. Mehmet Akif opened a realistic window to the society and the world where he lived with his poems. For this reason, one of the methods that Akif uses frequently in this context is the literary depiction. Mehmet Akif was busy with poetry from an early age. The purpose and method of using the literary depiction has changed over time in line with the stages in his poems. In this study, to better understand how Mehmet Akif used literary depiction in his poems, primarily the term depiction and literary depiction were evaluated theoretically. Later, the poems that Mehmet Akif wrote before the 2nd Constitutional Era in his youth and those mostly published after the Constitutional Era under the general title of Safahat were examined in examples of how the literary depiction was used and the changes occurred in the use of this narrative tool. Depictions, which are one of the building blocks of his poems, in terms of embodying concrete examples of the change and transformation that Akif experienced in the intellectual and literary platform, are also very important in terms of revealing the collapse of the Ottoman State in a striking and at times critical way.
