Abstract (EN)
Space is not merely a structure that meets the physical needs of individuals but also an experiential and perceptual field of interaction. Individuals experience space subjectively through their cultural background, psychological structure, and unconscious impulses. This experience may evoke positive feelings such as security and peace or negative emotions such as anxiety, discomfort, and uncanniness. This Master's Thesis investigates how architectural space can evoke the feeling of uncanniness and explores the relationship between this emotion and the design parameters that shape spatial organization. Based on a qualitative research method, the study employs conceptual analysis, interdisciplinary comparison, and case study techniques. The findings indicate that certain design decisions have the potential to trigger uncanny sensations at an unconscious level and that some contemporary architectural works deliberately utilize these strategies as conscious design tools.
