Gerunds and gerund-clauses that takes part in stories of Memduh Şevket Esendal's first eight story books

In this thesis, gerund and gerund-clouses in Memduh Şevket EsendaPs published first eight stories were examined interms of their functions and structures. Gerunds and particibles, widely used in the Turkish Language, attracted Turkologists by getting known many actions in only one sentence without extending the expression and using any conjuction and increasing The Turkish Language's effective expression and fluency. Coming out of new gerunds and their functional structures, which were not used preious Turkish expression but in today's Turkish Language, have provided a rich gerund structure to the Turkish expression. For this reason, the gerunds were chosen as the subject of the thesis. In this study, gerunds funcsions in Memduh Şevket Esendal's works were determined, the gerunds places in sentences and their relations between sentence's verb and subject were examined by the aspects and their structure, İn conclusion, the result were tabulated. In addition to this, the gerunds used in the texts were examined by the aspects of multiple meaning and patterning usage. At the and of this study, it was aimed to determine how the structure of gerunds 'in Turkish Language, their relations with sub structures of sentences and their uasage contribute Turkish Language.
