Comparison of side effects between chemotherapy and radiotherapy for breast cancer patients and a novel approach for treatment of breast cancer

Breast cancer is rising inside the lower socio-economic bunches in Libya and may, within the medium term, end up an issue for the Libyan populace. Undesirable cancer-related symptoms can occur in some breast cancer patients during or after chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or other cancer treatment procedures. Treatment side effects may result in a reduction in medication dosage during treatment or even the cessation of treatment entirely making the therapeutic process ineffectual. Generally, 4.4 million women suffer from breast cancer, with over 400,000 losing their lives to the disease each year. This illness accounts for 14% of all cancer-related deaths. It is the second most common cause of death for women, with almost half of cases occurring in women under the age of 50. Surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy are complementary strategies in the treatment of breast cancer patients. However, these strategies alone are insufficient to effectively treat all breast cancer molecular subtypes, as their responses to radiotherapy and chemotherapy differ. Therefore, personalized therapies represent a novel approach to local treatment based on these differences. Personalized therapies play a crucial role in the development of new treatments for breast cancer. Breast cancer is characterized by a wide window of relapse, spanning months to decades after surgery. Challenges in the treatment of breast cancer include dealing with treatment resistance and recurrence. Indeed, most breast cancer patients have recurrent disease and side effects after treatment. This thesis focuses on the treatments for breast cancer, the underlying resistance mechanisms, and the exploration of new treatment strategies, with a particular focus on a novel approach to breast cancer treatment and the resulting challenges.
