Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the works adapted to the theater of Memet Baydur, one of the playwrights who is thought to have brought a breath of fresh air to Turkish theater, in terms of containing the characteristics of Absurd theater. In terms of subject matter, the sources on Absurd theater are examined, information about the periodical factors that led to the formation of this genre is given and the philosophical movements that this movement is influenced by are explained. Memet Baydur's life and how the effects of the period he lived in this process were reflected in the plays were examined. His works, articles published in magazines, books, reviews, newspaper articles and essays on theater plays were examined. Finally, the play Limon was examined in terms of the Absurd theater elements it contains. According to the results of the research, it is concluded that Memet Baydur's theater is influenced by Absurd theater in terms of the subject, language and theatrical structure.
