Özet (EN)

Bladder cancer is encountered as the second common cancer among genitourinary cancers and is considered to be the third common cause for death with its mortality ratio of 20%. In this study we aimed to evaluate the presence and the effectivity of the clor (Cl-) ion channels in patients with bladder cancer histopathologically. A total of 85 patients consisting 55 with a history of cystoscopy and transuretral resection tumor (TUR-T) operation because of bladder cancer diagnosis after performing diagnostic tools (urinary ultrasonografi (USG), computed tomografi (CT) urography) because of haematuria and 30 controls were included in study. Collected samples were evaluated in the medical genetics laboratory by using Real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method. Spearman correlation analysis was performed in order to determine the gen expression and Chi-Square test was used in order to compare the gene expression positivity in the normal and cancer tissue. Values p<0,05 are considered as to be statistically significant. Clor ion channels 3 (CIC-3) expression is found to be higher in the cancer tissue by comparing to the control but there was no statistically significant difference in the CIC-1 gene expression. The results we have achieved especially on CIC-3 may be considered as encouraging for the future therapy of bladder cancer. New studies with larger numbers will be helpful for developing new treatment modalities. Key words: Bladder. Tumor, Chlorine, Ion Channels.
