Abstract (EN)

The success of team leadership roles in schools will increase the quality of education and so the students' success. The biggest handicap that the school headmasters face in their team leadership roles is seen as the old habits of the teachers and their resistance to the innovations. The object of this study is to research and determine that at which level are the "team leadership roles of Vocational High School headmasters" depending on the teachers' opinions. This study is seen important as with the help of this study, the variables which affect the team leadership roles of managers in Vocational High Schools would be defined, and also this study would create an atmosphere in which the negative and positive effects of different teachers' opinions on the management style in the Vocational High Schools would be discussed. In this respect this study will contribute to the field. This study has been carried out with using scanning model. The data which are used in this study obtained from the survey study that has been carried out in the Vocational High Schools in Maltepe and Kartal districts, Istanbul. In the sample, 304 teachers participate who work in the Vocational High Schools in Maltepe and Kartal districts of Istanbul. "Team Leadership Scale" which is prepared in 2008-2009 academic year for the team leadership behaviours of education managers by Ibrahim H. Cankaya & Mehmet Karakus from Elazıg University, Faculty of Education is used in this study. The Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficients of the measuring tool is found as 942. Subfactors such as conflict management, meeting management, team building, role model, motivation and communication constitute the "Team leadership role scale". In analysis of the data, first of all for all independent variables frequency (N) and percentage (%) values are calculated. In order to test the difference between the independent averages "-t Test" is used. Also, to test the difference among more than two independent averages "ANOVA Test" is used. However, because of the fact that the respondents who answer to some items in some independent questions about age, branch and tenure in the current institution are below 30, "Kruskal-Wallis Test analysis" is used which is equal to "ANOVA Test" but not parametric. Based on the study, it is determined that the team leadership of Headmasters are high. A significant difference is found between the genders when the answers of the teachers are examined. Another significant difference is also determined among the variables such as occupational seniority, branch, marital status, the working time spent in the same institution and the number of the teachers in that institution.
