Özet (EN)

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), containing autologous growth factors, has been thought toaccelerate soft tissue healing. Therefore, the aim of this study is to evaluate the clinicaleffectiveness of CAF+PRP combined technique and also to compare its results withCAF alone in the treatment of gingival recession. Seventeen systemically healthypatients with bilateral Miller Class I/II gingival recessions participated in this study.Firstly, Miller Class II recessions were treated with free gingival grafts in order toimprove inadequate keratinized tissue. After three months, sites were randomlyassigned into CAF (control) or PRP+CAF groups. Clinical parameters were recorded atbaseline, and at 1, 3 and 6 months. Wound healing at postoperative 14th day was alsoevaluated. Probing depth, recession depth and clinical attachment levels improved forboth study groups. The increase in keratinized tissue width was statistically significantin the test group while it didn?t change in the control group. Wound healing was betterand complication occurrences were less than the control group on 14th day. Based onthe results of this randomized controlled study, PRP may provide additional clinicalbenefits and accelerate wound healing compared to CAF alone in the treatment ofMiller Class I recessions.Keyword: Gingival recession, CAF, PRP, wound healing
