Our national value ancestral (Native) seed and education: Recommendation for including the science course curriculum achievements

The aim of this study is to integrate the ancestral (native) seed, which is our national value, into different branches, especially the Science course, to the extent required by the spiral program, and to create awareness of production and consumption with ancestral seeds at the primary school level. Many subjects such as biodiversity, environment, sustainable environment, life in living things are taught under the Science course. Including ancestral seeds in science lessons, especially in biodiversity topics, is an important step in creating responsibility and national awareness at a young age. Organizing visits to botanical gardens, national parks, seed banks and seed exchange festivals in the Science course, where learning by doing is best used; Conducting controlled experiments, establishing application gardens, preparing concept and mind maps, examining case studies, and preparing pictures and posters are the most important activities that will ensure permanent learning. A few sample studies regarding these activities are presented in our research. In the process of our work, our teachers: What does ancestor seed mean to you? Would you like to have enough information on issues related to ancestor seeds? Questions were asked and themes and sub-themes were tried to be found according to the data obtained. During the research process, it was observed that both teachers and students were sensitive to the ancestral (native) seed, but their knowledge level was low. At the end of this research, where the ancestral seed can be explained, examples of achievements and types of activities are given.
