Religious and moral education in National Educational Councils

This study which is entitled ?Religious and Moral Education in National Educational Councils? consists of two main parts apart from ?Introduction? and ?Conclusion and Evaluation? parts.In the introduction, topic, problem, aim, importance, methods and handicaps of the research were mentioned.In the first part, National Educational Council?s history, agenda items, legal basis and rules of procedures were explained and Education Congress and Scientific Committees were mentioned. In addition, decisions about religious and moral education taken in eighteen National Educational Councils that had been held from 1939 to present were also examined.In the second part negotiations and decisions that had been taken beginning from thirteenth National Educational Council gathered under two headings as ?The Lesson of Religious Culture and Thought of Morality? and ?Religious High Schools? (İmam Hatip High Schools). Under the main headings, provincial commission reports, district commission reports, council agenda and evaluations were included. The most important issues mentioned in council agenda were; eight years uninterrupted compulsory education, coefficient practice, the role of Religious High Schools in preparation of profession, moral education, from which grade ?The Lesson of Religious Culture and Thought of Morality? should be started and evaluation of this lesson.In conclusion and evaluation part, decisions about religious and moral education taken from the beginning of thirteenth National Educational Council and council members views were tried to be summarized and evaluated.
