Abstract (EN)
Wood has always been a preferred material as it is natural and represents a part of nature, it can be defined as an ecological material in terms of raw material supply, production, use and post-use processes. However, when the developing production technology is evaluated in order to bring wood material to different usage options today, it has been scientifically proven that it has harmful effects on human and environmental health in many applications where wood is used due to the requirements of its technology. In order to increase the durability of wood material against physical environmental conditions, expand its dimensional limits and enrich its options, many; impregnating agents, adhesives and surface protective chemicals have entered. In line with the increasing environmental problems, the fact that the consumer who is conscious about building materials as well as many other issues, and the questioning of products with the lowest environmental impact in the wood industry, pushes manufacturers to seek natural solutions in this area. Starting from the sustainability of the forest, which is its source, wood material is questioned through ecological criteria such as worker health-environmental impact during production, indoor user health during use, and recyclability in reuse. Today, especially with the effect of the legal regulations that limit the use of formaldehyde in different countries, researches and product diversity on bio-based adhesives suitable for industrial use in the wood sector are increasing. The use of wooden nails instead of chemical adhesives in wood panel assemblies and lamination is among the alternative joining methods in the industry. Apart from bio-based adhesives and wooden nail, another wood joining technique worth noting is wood welding. While R&D studies on this technology give good results on a small scale practices, research practices continue for large scale. The aim of this study is to question the bio-based change of architectural wood material production technology and the awareness/innovative behavior of manufacturers against this change. The study includes academic postgraduate studies on architectural wooden building materials and the technological approach of the manufacturer within national conditions. Method in the study is literature review to determine the conceptual infrastructure and the approach of academic publications, and a survey to determine the innovative approach of wood manufacturers. The study consists of six chapters. In the first chapter, information about the requirements of the study, the definition of the problem, the scope and method are given. In the second part; In order to observe the development and change behavior of architectural wood materials and to determine the scientific-based current situation of wood materials in national conditions, the postgraduate studies completed in the relevant field in Turkey were examined. In the third part; The concept of innovation, types of innovation, innovation analyzes in the world and in Turkey were examined. Information about the effect of culture on innovation behavior, innovation behavior in Turkey and wood material production environment to support the study is given. In the fourth part; biotechnological methods, innovative production approach in the production of architectural wood materials, have been investigated. In the fifth section; The innovative behavior and biotechnology awareness of the productive environment were investigated by using the questionnaire method through the wood associations determined. The sixth chapter includes the evaluation and conclusion. As a result of the survey, the participating companies answered the questions questioning their innovative behavior as they are mostly engaged in innovative activities. However, the concept of new here is perceived differently from the concept of new and innovativeness, which constitutes the main questioning of the study. When the results are examined, it is revealed that the products or services already existing in the market are perceived as innovations for the companies themselves. In addition, although the majority of the participants have heard of the concept of biotechnology, the application areas of the concept in general and wood materials are not known enough.
