Investigation of engineering problems in architectural design process

Architecture is designing spaces. Architect, designs buildings toward aesthetic principles, he/she supervises user demands, laws, regulations, texts' conditions, supervises construction process. He/she organizes various disciplines necessary to designs, produces aesthetic, functional spaces. For architect, to provide organization, communicate with subdisciplines, he/she must have knowledge about disciplines. Spaces are formed after design, construction processes. Design process's explicable in sub-headings like analysis, synthesis, evaluation, communication. From project's view point, design stages; preliminary design, preliminary project, application project. Designs are completed by working multidisciplinarily. After design phases, becomes application project. When there's no multidisciplinary studies, it can cause problems, mandatory changes in design process, design process extends, time and economic losees, etc. In study, reason why architecture's a science, art field that requires multidisciplinary study, engineering problems encountered in design process've been examined within civil engineering's scope. Study covers reinforced concrete structures' design process. In reinforced concrete's design process before application project, engineering criteria that architect should comply with are determined within civil engineering's scope. Designed projects' suitability in engineering criteria's evaluated on building's carrier elements' basis. Engineering criteria for each carrier structure element; Construction Law, Design, TS 500, 2007 Earthquake Regulation, Development Regulations. In study, problems were identified on sample projects, architects, engineers were interviewed face-to-face, surveys were conducted in profession groups to identify problems.
