In this thesis, a Geographical Information System (GIS) supported Construction Supply Chain Management (CSCM) model which suggests economy and ecology optimization on CSCM has been developed. The model enables the selection of building materials and supplier during construction phase by using multi criteria decision making (MCDM) methods. Within the scope of the study, brick, autoclaved aerated concrete and gypsum board which are widely used wall materials in Turkish construction sector were researched. A simplified Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach based on the production, transportation and application phases of the LCA technique for material selection that is called the Penalty Score was proposed. Cost as an economic criterion and global warming potential (GWP) category as an ecological criterion was taken into account. Whilst supplier selection criteria were specified by the expert panel, weightings of the criteria were determined through a questionnaire survey. Survey participants were selected among the experts from construction companies, universities and governmental institutions. Statistical analyzes of the survey results were performed on SPSS software. For the supplier selection, a simplified MCDM method called Reward Score is developed. Web-based software called ECO-SUPPLY was developed in order to test the applicability of the model. A reinforced concrete building in Eskisehir was selected for the software applications, and the findings of the research were presented based on the sample building. The study is considered as significant due to the addressing CSCM which is not researched deeply before in Turkey, as well as its environmental-friendly approach on CSCM. It is also significant due to adoption of GIS support in the CSCM process. Research findings indicate the model has ability to provide decision support to architects and designers in the design phase and to all project participants especially project managers during construction phase. It is also expected that proposed model will bring construction projects the perspective of low carbon footprint, as well as the time, cost and quality objectives of the construction management.
