Abstract (EN)
Myth is a folk tale that changes its shape in time with the effect of the out- power of the society spreading from generation to generation and has an imaginary allegoric (animation with simile) way of telling related to the birth of Universe, Gods and Goddesses. It is before and out of knowledge. It cannot be inspected in practice and it is inside the area of knowledge. It has arisen owing to the need for unlearned human to explain Earth and Universe. Myths about supernatural people have always been in relationship with religion. Mythology is the branch of science that studies and interprets the history of myths. After having collected and studied the imaginary and hypothetical before- science explanations of primitive people, mythology has covered all people afterwards. But, on the other hand, religion is a social institution depending on the thought of God and is also a mystical fact which people have taken part in by believing in God or some other creatures they regard sacred for supernatural powers. It is an organisation drawing up the beliefs of this type like rules, ceremonies and and symbolic concepts. The first ideas of religion have arisen not from viewing what has been happening on Earth but from worries related to life events and never-ending hope and fear causing the human brain to work. Scholars have put forward different ideas on the rise of religions. According to a common opinion, myths have arisen from some religious ceremonies. According to another opinion, it has been suggested that religions have arisen from psychological manners of human-beings and has been said that primitive man who had been inexperienced, unmannerly and ignorant at those times dreamt by inspiring from the sudden effects of the occasions that he had seen. The spread of myths, reflecting the characteristics of every culture and belief, has spread from culture to another culture with the help of the trade between societies, trips, migration and invasions. IVMyths took place at each phase of life before Renaissance and even we can say that it has had defining features. It has greatly affected the art of painting just like it has been effective at each period of life. Primitive men believing in magic thought that, while hunting, he would influence the gate to be hunted by drawing its picture on the walls of caves to get fertility. This thought had dominated until Renaissance in different types of serving. By painting mythological pictures about the hereafter were shown other people their future. They diffused the fear of death one way or another. They informed how the hereafter is. In the art of paintings, myths were used to express what was continual and sacred. This is not the case when it comes to Mesopotamia, Hittite and Phoenicia. These civilisations did not pay much attention to the art of paintings. They inclined architectural and the statue. In Greek world, the human begins to know himself and he brings the possibilities in his existence as he knows himself. Myth takes the place of nature religions, the human feels responsible for the society in which he lives and democracy replaces theocracy. Few paintings picturing Greek beliefs have survived today. Paintings that have survived are the simple pictures of vase made by the potters and painters, not by the big artists. There are also pictures about mythology that were painted on methops of temples. In ancient Greece, these pictures were used to teach people their beliefs and educate them.
