The life and works of Mizanci Mehmed Murad and the transcription and evaluation of the works of Muhtasar Tarih-i Umûmî

In this study, we have discussed the life and works of Mizancı Mehmed Murad, who migrated from Russia to Istanbul, served greatly to the Ottoman Empire and Islam, and was an important intellectual idea and thought. In addition, we tried to transcribe and evaluated the "Muhtasar Tarih-i Umumi" which main subject of our thesis. Muhtasar Tarih-i Umûmî evaluated the topics starting from the creation of Prophet Adam, the beginning of human history, to the formation of the great states that hold all powers, under three main titles as First Age, Medieval Age and New Age respectively. The work, which briefly describes the general world history and was written in Ottoman, was taught as a textbook in Mülkiye Schools. The work dealt with the important developments that societies experienced from an instructive and questioning point of view. Thus, this work was written so that students studying in Mülkiye Schools have a detailed knowledge and culture about world history. The author has written the work in a very simple and clear style. In his work titled "Muhtasar Tarih-i Umumi", Mizancı Mehmed Murad shared the events by giving a brief description of them and transferring them directly in a sequence. While sharing the historical events, by presenting the geographical information of the cities where the events took place, he has put forward a different method with his emotional expression style in many places besides his objectivity. The author especially saw religion as one of the elements that hold the society together and make the state.
