Abstract (EN)

XIX. century is a turbulent century in which Islamic thought actually underwent significant changes. The vertiginous developments in the West put political, social and cultural pressure on the Islamic geography and also put Muslims in an intellectual dilemma. This century is a period in which philosophical ideas such as positivism, rationalism and determinism emerged, which are the product of Enlightenment thought and claim that reality can only be known in the light of scientific data. These insights, which claim the invariance of natural laws, criticize religion, which they see as an obstacle to scientific developments, through miracles that have taken place in a marvelous way. It is a fact that Islamic religion was also influenced intellectually by this situation. This study focuses on how Muslim scholars, who are stuck between the scientific understanding of their era and their traditional Islamic view, have overcome the miracle dilemma. It is seen that this problem, which also caused the change of Islamic thought, was finally tried to be overcome by modernizing the classical theories.
