Abstract (EN)
From the early period of Islam to modern times, apart from a few exceptional arguments, Dajjāl had been considered as described in the riwayahs not being a matter of debate. Factors such as intellectual accumulation constituted from the classical period to the modern era, the beginning of the Age of Enlightenment in the West and Muslim scholars' being influenced by Western scholars' views gradually paved the way for the concept of Dajjāl to be a controversial issue. As a natural consequence, several modernist Dajjal conceptions emerged. The study entitled "Dajjāl in the Modern Islamic Literature'' investigated the scholars who propound their views on Dajjāl and their works. The paper is composed of the introduction and three other chapters. In the introduction part, the subject, aim, significance, method, and sources of the research are identified and, in order to make the issue more comprehensible, the Dajjāl concept in the historical processes and religions is explained in general terms. In the first part, those who reject the concept of Dajjāl, in the second part, those who accept the concept of Dajjāl without interpretation in line with the classic view, and their views are discussed, and in the third part, the identities of those who interpret Dajjāl and their conceptions of Dajjāl are examined. The study mainly aims to contribute to the identification and presentation of modern Dajjāl views by examining modern scholars' views on Dajjāl by a comparative method.
