Protection and recommendation of modern architecture heritage structures: Diyarbakir Dilan ve Site cinemas

The historical cinemas in Diyarbakır, and especially Dilan and Site Cinemas, have reached an important place in terms of both the architectural values and the social and cultural values. During its active years, Dilan Cinema served not only the social and cultural needs of Diyarbakır but also the entire region. Activities such as concerts, concerts, conferences and meetings were frequently performed in this structure where only film screenings were not performed. In the period when it was built, Dilan Cinema, which took the title of en The Biggest Cinema of the Middle East and the Balkans veren, has been protected with the building materials and construction of the period. With the Dilan Cinema, the interest of the people of Diyarbakır has increased so much that the cinema tickets are sold together and sold out in a week. Over time, interest in cinema has diminished, and due to the economic needs of the owners of the Dilan Cinema, some parts of the cinema have been changed and cannot serve as a cinema structure today. In this study, firstly, it is aimed to examine Historical Diyarbakır Cinemas as a whole. The impact of the cinema culture in Diyarbakır on the socio-cultural life will be determined and it is aimed to develop suggestions for the reasons of abandonment and non-survival of historical cinema halls in Diyarbakır and protection problems of Dilan Cinema and to develop solutions for these problems by identifying them. At the Dilan Cinema, where measurement works have been completed, survey projects have been prepared and detailed photographs of the cinema have been taken in many respects and necessary determinations have been made. In addition, photographs and documents which were useful in official institutions and personal archives were obtained. And finally, people who watched or worked at Dilan Cinema and other historical cinemas were discussed and the necessary information was collected and evaluated.
