Abstract (EN)
The things in the subconscious are effective in many events, behaviors and coincidence which are defined as conscious. Psychoanalytical critical system, developed by Freud to get to know people and understand them better by studying their subconscious, is used widely while commenting on literary and artistic works. This thesis aims to study the characters with depressive and neurotic symptoms in Modern Turkish novel in terms of psychoanalysis. The method followed in this study is the approaches of psychoanalysts like Freud and his followers. As fort he analysis of neurosis, the approaches of Karen Horney are used. İn the study, the novels of the pioneers of Modern Turkish novel like Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, Hikmet Erhan Bener, Leyla Erbil, Oğuz Atay, Selim İleri, Adalet Ağaoğlu, Yusuf Atılgan, Pınar Kür and Tezer Özlü having adopted Freudian discipline have been studied. İn the selected novels of these novelists, the main characters who are clinical depressed, manic depressed and the ones diagnosed with neurotic symptoms have fears, grief and also they suffer from loneliness. These problems are caused by the tragic events they have had during their childhood period and the problems have been analyzed in accordance with Freudian discipline. After analyzing each novel according to Freudian point of view, we have come to conclusion that these problems are caused by the events that the characters have had during their childhood period and the most important reasons are lack of concern and love of their parents. After stating the conclusions, we have presented the novels we studied in this thesis study and the other sources. Keywords: Psychonalysis, Sigmund Freud, modernism, depression, neurosis.
