Abstract (EN)
The ground surface shifts in all directions during an earthquake. for that, water storage tanks should be properly designed to withstand dynamic loadings of earthquick effect. Through the earthquake, the tanks proceeds in all directions and the vibration effect on there structure. this phenomenon causes unexpected deformation in the tank walls. For that, considering the disastrous consequences of the water tank failure, this study investigated the dynamic response of two types of water tanks, elevated tanks and cylindrical earth tank under seismic condition to investigate the differences of seismic effect on their structures. This goal was achieved by using the ANSYS software program. The test results observed the frequencies with mode analysis and specimen responses such as accelerations and the deformation of the tested models. The simulation results validated with the previous studies based on the surface response and present the numerical results of seismic effect including deformation shape of tanks. Keywords: Frequency, Modal, Specimen responses
