The critical edition of Molla Fahraddin Arnasi's work tittled et-Tarsif fi İlmi't-Tasrif

Molla Fahraddîn al-Arnâsî was born in a village called Arnas of Midyat district in Mardin province, in 1910. He was the son of Molla Abdullah belonging to the Sayeed family. Molla Fahraddîn is also known to most people by his byname, Al-Batmani, referring to Batman where he arrived at for education at the age of 15, and carried out a great majority of his scientific studies and irshadi (sufistic guidance) activities. He died in Batman on February 1, 1972. Molla Fahraddîn, the author of eleven works, six of which were written on Arabic language, also educated a great number of students who were thereafter to be appointed to important positions in academic circles. Of the abovementioned works, only one book, Cuma Günü ve Cuma Namazı (The Day of Friday and The Friday Prayer) is in Turkish, the rest is written in Arabic. There have always been a great many scholars educated in the traditional Islamic education institutions (madrasah) in Southeastern Anatolia Region; however, only a few ones, among whom is also Molla Fahraddîn, have written books. Molla Fahraddîn established his scientific competence and perfection through his written works on Islam and the Arabic language. Furthermore, he won the hearts and minds of people, thanks to his intellectual, scientific and moral quality. He also mediated between people in the sense of finding out a solution to their social issues. Our aim in this study is to examine Molla Fahraddîn's work, et-Tarsif fî İlmî'tTasrif, written on Arabic morphology, and, as far as possible, to correct deficiencies in it. The author cut his briefly-compiled book into 6 sections covering in a comprehensive way the sound verbs, the doubled verbs, the defective/hollow/assimilated verbs, the hamzated verbs, the nouns of time and place, the objetcs.
