Abstract (EN)

In this study, the period of the eighth caliph of the Fatimid State, Mustansir-Billah and the events that took place in this period are examined. The aim of the study is to examine the stages of the Fatimid State during the caliphate of Caliph Bashansir-Billah and the effect of these stages on the regression of the state. In 427 (1036), when he was only seven years old, he became the ruler of the state. Both his mother and some statesmen tried their best to take advantage of this situation when al-Mustansir-Billah took the caliphate at a young age. In the first years of his caliphate, some problems started to emerge within the state. This situation also affected the foreign policy of the state. In particular, the struggles for influence with the Abbasid State, which was one of the great states of the period and which the Fatimids were trying to defeat, and the Seljuk State, which had just been established, had worn the state very much. Simultaneously with these struggles, famines, wasteful expenditures of the palace, non-payment of soldiers' salaries and the resulting rebellions had a very bad effect on the economy and welfare level of the state. At the same time, the political instability of the state accelerated and the change of viziers increased. Seeing that the situation was getting worse, the Caliph al-Mustansir-Billah, who was unable to fight against all these events, found the solution by inviting the Governor of Akka, Bedr al-Jamali, who was of Armenian origin, to Egypt. In this study, the caliphate period of Müstansır-Billâh, which was a very important period for the Fatimid State, and the important events of this period are examined.
