Abstract (EN)
In this study, the historical development and social structure of Mardin is examined. In the first part of the research, the origin and geography of the Mardin name was focused on, and the pre- and post-Ottoman history of the city was discussed. In the second part, the features and content of a notebook belonging to Mardin were analyzed. In this section, topics such as names, nicknames, titles, neighborhoods and population information in the notebook are discussed; Information is given about the professions, occupations and the physical appearance of the city's inhabitants. In the third section, the transcript of the notebook is presented. This transcript has been prepared to contribute to a better understanding of the historical and social structure of Mardin. In addition, it aims to shed light on the past of Mardin through historical documents and to understand the social dynamics in the city. Mardin's rich cultural texture and historical heritage were discussed in detail within the scope of this research. As a result, this study, which provides comprehensive information about the historical processes and social structure of Mardin, aims to reveal the historical, cultural and socio-economic effects of the Muslim population in the city on Mardin. While creating our study, a detailed literature review was made and the Mardin Muslim Population Book number 3739 in the Prime Ministry Ottoman Archives was analyzed.
