The examination of the relationship between employee empowerment and creativity process in the kitchen staff

Organizations have to adopt new management approaches in the ever changing world order. Employee empowerment approach is the beginning of the modern management approach. Employee empowerment approach is based on giving employees authority and responsibilities, creating the management understanding that employees can work freely and independently and creating environment that will enable employees to own their jobs. Employees are encouraged to creative and innovative aspects so that employees can freely express ideas and thoughts. Creativity is expressed as a different way of doing something that exists or developing a different point of view. And, creativity in kitchen work is assessed as the preparation, cooking or presentation of an existing food using different materials, techniques and methods. Increasing of competition in the service sector and diversification in the needs and desires of customers make change in businesses compulsory. In this context, it is crucially important to create an organizational culture that will provide employees with creativity in order to provide competitive advantage and meet customer demands. In this study, the approach of employee empowerment was taken into consideration in all aspects and the relationship level between them were tried to be determined. For this purpose, canonical correlation analysis was used. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the culinary workers found meaningful work, valued them, were free to carry out their work, and made decisions of their own. They have contributed positively to issues such as creative idea development, intellectual evaluation and finding solutions to problems.
