Abstract (EN)

It is known that different types of music used before, during and after sports performance have physical and psychological benefits for the athlete. In this context, the aim of this study is to reveal the effect of music on the sports performance of taekwondo athletes across Turkey. 447 people from across Turkey who were actively doing teakwondo sports in 2022-2023 voluntarily participated in the research. As a data collection tool, a personal information form prepared by us for the participants and the 'Scale for the Effect of Music in Sporting Practices' (SUMEÖ) were used. Data analysis was done with the SPSS 26.00 package program, and the statistical significance level was accepted as p<0.05. When the research findings are examined, there is a significant difference between the variables of age, educational status, sports years and number of competitions and the motivation, physical strength and performance, psychological resilience sub-dimensions and average scores of the scale, while the gender variable and the average scores and sub-dimensions of the effect of music on sports performance scale. There is no significant difference between them. As a result, it can be said that teakwondo athletes interact with music in terms of all variables except gender, and that music affects their motivation, physical strength and performance, and psychological resilience, which affects their sports performance, to a certain extent and in different directions.
