The opinions of the faculty members of the department of music education towards students with disabilities

In human life, directly or indirectly through physical, mental, spiritual, etc. disturbances arise. These disorders that occur may be long-term and permanent in some individuals. Individuals with special needs are also individuals with permanent physical or mental disorders. It is very important for these individuals to receive education according to their disability status and to live as a free individual in adulthood. One of the departments where individuals with special needs receive education is the music education departments of the faculties of education in our country. The problems faced by individuals with special needs who are studying in this field in the educational process and the attitudes of the teaching staff to these problems may affect the educational process of students with disabilities. The aim of this research is to determine and evaluate what kind of situations students who have entered the music education departments of the faculties of education from the disabled quota and have been eligible for education experience during the educational process from the point of view of the teaching staff. This research, patterned on the descriptive screening model, was conducted with 81 teaching staff working in 22 different Departments of Music Education and a questionnaire was applied for the educational process of students with disabilities. As a result of the research, it turns out that the teaching staff does not have an adequate level of education for the education of students with special needs, and students face difficulties in terms of teaching and communication during the educational process. In addition, it is one of the results that there is no special program prepared for the education of students with special needs, there is a lack of materials October, the classroom environment is not prepared for students with special needs.
