The effect of music teacher candidates' attitudes and self-efficacy perceptions about playing baglama on performance exam anxiety

In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of music teacher candidates' perceptions of attitude and self-efficacy towards playing context on their performance exam anxiety levels. For this main purpose, developing the "Attitude Scale for Playing Baglama" and "Self-Efficacy Scale for Playing Baglama" for music teacher candidates constitutes the other purpose of the study. In this research designed in accordance with the relational survey model, in the 2019-2020 academic year, the "Attitude Scale for Playing Baglama", "Self-efficacy Scale for Playing Baglama" developed within the scope of the research, was given to the study group consisting of 2, 3 and 4 grade students from the departments of music education and 418 candidate music teachers. and Dalkıran, Baltacı, Karataş and Nacakcı (2014), "Individual Instrument Performance Exam Anxiety Scale" was applied. After the application, exploratory factor analysis was applied to scales after skewness and kurtosis test, factors related to the developed scales were determined and confirmatory factor analysis was made. In this research, simple and multiple linear regression analysis were used to find the relationship between attitude performance test anxiety and self-efficacy performance test anxiety. In order to determine the effect for the main purpose of the study, the Structural Equation Model was used, twelve hypotheses were established based on the dimensions and general scores of the scales and the hypotheses were tested. In this context, it has been observed that 6 of the 12 hypotheses formed were acceptable and 6 were not at an acceptable level of conformity. As a result of the research, the "Attitude Scale towards Playing Baglama" and the "Self-efficacy Scale for Playing Baglama" developed for this study were found to be valid and reliable. It was found that sub-dimensions of attitude towards baglama playing significantly explained the level of performance exam anxiety at the rate of 5.1%, the sub-dimensions of self-efficacy related to playing baglama significantly explained the performance exam anxiety level by 5.4%. In accordance with the basic objectives, it was concluded that the attitude and self-efficacy levels of music teacher candidates for playing baglama had no effect on their performance exam anxiety levels and suggestions were made.
