Abstract (EN)
This study deals with the synthesis of silica-coated magnetic nanoparticles functionalized with N-methyl-D-glucamine (NMDG) as a magnetic sorbent and its application for the removal of boron from aqueous environment. The targeted study was carried out in two stages. In the first stage, magnetic sorbents were prepared by two different methods. In the first method, sorbent-1 (S-1) was prepared by direct attachment as a result of the substitution of bromine with nitrogen on the silica-coated magnetic nanoparticles by nucleophilic substitution reaction of N-methyl-D-glucamine (NMDG ). In the second method, the bromine attached on the silica-coated magnetic nanoparticles, primarily carried out substitution with azide group. Then click reaction was carried out between methyl propiolate with the azide group on the silica-coated magnetic nanoparticles. Sorbent-2 (S-2) was prepared by nucleophilic addition reaction with N-methyl-D-glucamine (NMDG ) to the ester group on the magnetic nanoparticles containing triazole ring consisting as a result of click reaction. The characterization of the magnetic products was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer (FT-IR), and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). In the second stage, the comparison of sorbents sorption capacity was performed by applying artificial prepared aqueous solution of boron and sea water samples.
