Abstract (EN)
Nasometer is a device which collects the acoustic energy during speech with a baffle plate which has microphones mounted on the top and the bottom of the plate. Patient is reading syllables, words, texts whose nasalance values are known before. Thus nasalance score is achieved with a ratio of the acoustic datas collected through the microphones. The nasalance score is a percentage (%) and it is the indicator of nasality in speech. The aim of this thesis is contributing to the installation and designation of a nasometer device so that septoplasty patients can have comparerable results before and after the surgery. It has three main parts which are electronic, data acquisition and computer software. The analysis of the recordings are done by a GUI coded in Matlab and the results are compared to commercial systems. Also a nasometer device is designed and connected with the software so that the perfection of the whole system was observed.KEYWORDS: Nasometry, Nasometer device, cleft lip, cleft palate, functional nasality problems, motor speech disorders, hearing loss, palatal and prostetic applications
