Abstract (EN)
The study was conducted quasi-experimentally between 2nd March and 26th October 2011 for the purpose of investigating the effect of nutrition training provided to 77 students studying at third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh grades in Cumhuriyet Primary School in the country of Avanos operating under the National Education Directorate of Nevşehir.The study data were collected by the questionnaire forms and BKI was counted by measuring height and weight of the students. In-class teaching and the nutrition brochure developed via the literature were used in training. In evaluating the data obtained, the score, percentage, and arithmetic mean, x2 (chi-square) significance tests were used.44.2 percent of the students were boys while 55.8 percent of those were girls. After the training it was 13.3 whereas information score was 11.5 prior to the training. As a conclusion information score were statistically consistent with the training. (p<0.05) It was stated that before the training, nearly half of the students skipped meals (%46.8), the breakfast were typically skipped compared to the other meals (%29.9), and the students ate candy, chocolate, wafer, chips, biscuits and consumed beverages containing acid while watching TV. The study indicated that after the training, the students took more regularly main meals including breakfast and lunch (%85.7), nutrition habits of them changed positively, BBP showed increase (p<0.05), but it was not dependant on sexuality (p>0,05).Consequentially, it could be stated that nutrition training was effective in study. It was underlined that nutrition training provided to the students, teachers, administrators, and families should be regarded within school health services.
