Abstract (EN)
In this study, eight epic sagas in Nogai oral literary products were examined in terms of typology. Thanks to the fact that the main function of the sagas is intergenerational cultural transport, the Nogai epics also play a great role in transmitting the awareness of history and cultural values to the generations. While epic perform their function, they provide this through types. In this context, in the examination of the epic, it is important to first determine the types of the epic and to identify which type corresponds to what in the culture from which it originates. The identification and examination of the types in the eight epic sagas discussed in our study, in which the Nogai epics were examined, constituted the main starting point. The thesis study consists of four main sections and each section is examined in its own subheadings. In the first part, a general information about the thesis topic is given and the contents of the topics covered are briefly mentioned. In the second part, the history of Nogai and the epics within the Nogai oral literature are emphasized. In this section, first of all, information is given about the history of the Nogais in the Turkic world. General information about the Nogai epics has been conveyed. The episodes of eight epic sagas that are the subject of the study are given and the epics based on historical reality are also emphasized. In the third part of the study, typology, which constitutes the main subject of the thesis, is emphasized and the reflection of typology in epics is tried to be discussed. In this section, firstly, what typology is explained and then the concept of type in oral literary products is mentioned. The chapter is concluded by referring to the studies on hero typology in world and Turkish epics with a general approach. A detailed evaluation of the types of the eight Nogai epics discussed in the fourth chapter has been made. Here, the first part is devoted to the detailed analysis of the alpine type from the central hero of the epic, and then the other types in the epics are examined in terms of typology. This examination was carried out on the basis of the twenty-item hero template created for the study of the Nogai epics. Other types in the epics were also examined under general subheadings and the common aspects of the Nogai epics with other Turkish epics were tried to be explained. As a result of the investigations, the excess of the common points of the Nogai epics with the epics of the Turkic world was followed from the twenty-point epic pattern created.
