Non-HDL cholestrol as indicator of dyslipidemia among diabetics type 2

Adults with diabetes have a two to four times higher risk of experiencing a cardiovascular event than adults without diabetes. Diabetic patients of both sexes, aged 30-70 years and with diabetes for more than five years were included in the study. Dyslipidemia analysis was focused on the study group consisting of 100 Type-2 Diabetes patients, 60 males and 40 females. The correlation of non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL) levels in Type 2 Diabetic patients was evaluated. Fasting blood sugars of all patients with Type-2 Diabetes are above the reference values. This confirms the diagnosis of Type-2 diabetes. The mean total cholesterol value of patients with Type-2 Diabetes is above the reference value. The mean total cholesterol value of male patients is higher than the mean total cholesterol value of female patients. The HDL cholesterol reference range differs for male and female patients with Type-2 Diabetes. The lower limit of the HDL cholesterol reference range for male patients is 35 mg/dL. The mean HDL value of male patients is below the reference value. In female patients, the lower limit of the reference value is 45 mg/dL, and the mean values are 41.90 mg/dL. The data reveal that there is a risk of developing dyslipidemia in Type-2 Diabetes patients.
