The effect of in-vitro alpha-tocoperol (vitamin e) on the parameters of sperm function in normozoospermic and oligozoospermic case

Abstract (EN)

Aim: In this study, it was aimed to analyse the effects of alpha-tocopherol on sperm motility and vitality in in-vitro. Material and methods: Our study was conducted on the semen samples of 15 male patients of normozoospermic and 15 oligozoospermic who had applied to University of Dicle, Hospital of Medicine School, Urology Department in evaluating vitality, Eosin-Y test was applied. The motility and vitality of semen samples exposed alpha-tocopherol for 30 and 60 minutes and 24 hours in vitro were examined. The results evaluated by Mann Whitney U test. Results: In our study, it was observed that there wasn't a remarkable increase in motility of the groups applied alpha-tocopherol for 30 minutes. And also, no significant increase was seen sperm motility of normozoospermic groups exposed alpha-tocopherol for 60 minutes on contrary, a crucial increase was observed in olgozoospermic group. In the motility of samples of two groups exposed alpha-tocopherol for 24 hours, a significant decrease but not related to alpha-tocopherol was observed. Not important but a slight increase was observed in the vitality results of normozoospermic and oligozoospermic groups exposed alpha-tocopherol for 30 and 60 hours. Conclusion: It was considered that alpha-tocopherol exposed to oligozoospermic patients for 60 minutes in a little amount will help improve their motality.
